Billows in the Wind

Even though spring has just sprung, I'm already thinking about my very first visit to New York in August {I know, so far away from now}.  I've been envisioning Glamourai worthy outfits that would ideally be photographed by Tommy Ton ever since I knew our church group's next destination would be New York City, but to my dismay, this week I was told we would have a {gasp} dress code we had to follow.  Instantaneously, all my hopes and dreams were rushed away, with thoughts of jeans and crew neck t-shirts being all I would have the pleasure to pack. {I know, I know, I'm being way overly dramatic, but it truly was crushing to hear those words} After giving this predicament much thought, which included checking the guidelines we had to abide by, I realized it wouldn't be as terrible as I imagined.  Just a few simple rules we have to follow "for our safety" which included: closed toed shoes, no tank tops or shirts that show your stomach, and everything has to go below your knees, oh, and you have to be able to work in every one of the outfits you pack.  That last one completely vetoed maxi-dresses, and now heels or wedges weren't even practical.  But, the no-showing-your-shoulders-or-stomach-rule shouldn't be too hard to follow.  That got me thinking to super roomy, loose tops that could easily look great on there own, or could be tucked into high-waisted jeans.  These are some of my thoughts so far for tops that would allow me to pick up boxes, or go shopping in SoHo- and will be kept in my closet long after I unpack my suitcase.

Polka Dots for Spring

Spring time is becoming more and more apparent as the days go by and i'm not about to complain one bit!  My favorite part of spring is when all of a sudden, a million different colors come out from whatever rock they were hiding under and make everything super bright.  And, like very year, with color comes pattern, lots and lots of it.  I'm still mastering how to mix patterns like the street style idols you see every day on Jak & Jil or Style, but as soon as that happens, I'll let you in on it.  Strips and dots are some of my favorites, but my wardrobe is (or at least, won't be when I find the just-right patterns for my closet) definitely not limited to those child-at-heart splashes.  These are what my spring dreams will consist of.

To Japan, Love Peyton

I'm officially back from California! I had such a great time in Disneyland (yes, not the most glamourous vacation, but fun for the whole family) and enjoyed the much need time out from school. That Friday morning, as i was repacking my bag to get on the airplane, my mom happened to turn on the news, and to such a devastating thing.  All that fun came rushing out into instant empathy for these people that had just had their homes taken away by two major disasters.  Its crazy to see all that happening and to think we are in our homes just enjoying life.  I have already sent out a donation to World Vision (here), and at this point in time, I guess that's all you can really do.  To all those people in Japan or who have loved ones there- my heart goes out to you.

Purple Sunnies

Last weekend I got new sunglasses and I'v been so excited to wear them, the only problem has been that it hasn't been super sunny and there fore pointless to wear them. I'm flying out to California this weekend so hopefully I will have plenty of opportunities to wear them.  When I got them I was so excited because they are my first real piece of designer anything (they are from the amazing brand Fendi) and they are purple and amazing. I couldn't get the picture I took of them to upload and no good images were on the internet (at least not any that I could find) so I decided to post this instead.  This picture was on The Glamourai last month and was so amazing that I had to share. If only i could get a pair of sunnies like these...
